When Cedar acquires a brand, we do it with enduring, stable growth in mind.
You may have heard from or met with other buyers, including “aggregators” who want to buy as many brands as possible, as quickly as possible.
We are not interested in acquiring 100 brands, and this means we can spend most of our time with you prior to close working meticulously on future plans to grow and enhance the brand you’ve put your passion and effort into growing to this moment.
As experienced operators, we know how challenging finding product market fit and scaling is (we’ve done it before!) and as a result we value brand equity above all other metrics.
As result, we are more selective and only acquire brands we believe have true scale potential.
Our team has deep, tenured eCommerce experience through multiple market cycles and understands the challenges of all operational areas of the business from product development and testing through growth marketing, supply chain and customer care.

Yes! Depending on your priorities, we also welcome you to join our team in various capacities. That might be helping guide the future of your brand (and many others) to the next level if there are particular areas of the business you are passionate about and would rather others take on the areas you don’t enjoy.
If you are looking for a quick exit, we are flexible with that outcome for you as well. We understand that a big reason for brand owners to sell their business is to free up headspace for other projects or priorities. -
Our experience has taught us that the value of a brand is equally qualitative as it is quantitative.
We’ll share more when we chat, and for now will tell you that we’re interested in businesses that have several important characteristics:
• Existing brand and identity, or strong future brand potential
• Proven product market fit demonstrated by total volume sold or customer satisfaction.
• We focus on brands for the Family & Home – this generally means the brands we love have developed products for Parents, Kids and Pets or products you’d find in the Home

You’re probably not too small. Because we value brands based on several qualitative and quantitative criteria, we’re often interested in smaller brands with high potential.
We are looking for profitable brands that generate at least $100,000 in annual profit. There is no minimum for sales levels and we’ve worked with brand owners to acquire smaller brands where we can see the potential to help you take your brand to the next level!

We have a preference towards the following criteria, but these are not deal breakers and we’re still excited to speak with business owners who meet some but not all:
• 2+ years of operations
• $750K+ in sales
• 10%+ EBITDA margins
• 40%+ sales are DTC (Shopify, WooCommerce, etc.).
• U.S dominant customer base (50% of orders or more)

We can structure a deal multiple ways, from 100% payment upfront immediately after our due diligence process (30-45 days), or with significant upside based on the future success of your brand.
If you choose to stay on in some capacity, we’ll align on a specific arrangement that works for everyone.

You’ll find our process to be extremely transparent, fair and efficient and we encourage you to review our Testimonials and speak with brand owners we’ve previously acquired brands from. It’s a good way to understand from another business owner’s perspective what working with us will be like.
The average time from initial contact to close can range from 30 to 90 days. Instead of using an automated system to evaluate your brand (like some others!), we work to understand the specific nuances of your brand, your outcome preferences, and your long-term vision.
As stewards of the brand you created, we work hard to draw out detailed growth plans from the beginning, and we’re happy to share those along the way so you can continue to enjoy what you’ve built.

We are global operators but prefer brands with strong US, Canadian, European or Oceanic (Australia, New Zealand, etc.) presences.
Our global supply chain and fulfillment capabilities allow for seamless integration throughout these geographies and we have deep consumer expertise across these markets.
If you have customers in other regions, we’d still love to speak with you as we’re looking to expand globally for the right brands.

We respect brand creators and believe they should be fairly compensated for the hard work they’ve put into building their business. We don’t run your data through a black-box algorithm that returns an arbitrary offer amount. We work hard to understand the nuances of your business, both the tangible and intangible aspects that make your brand unique.
We pride ourselves in agreeing to an offer in the Letter of Intent (LOI) and not adjusting the commercial terms after due diligence, which many otherbuyers try to do. Therefore, we will ask you for data and information upfront to accurately assess your business and provide a fair valuation. With us, you can expect to minimize the disappointments and frustrations of renegotiations that notoriously take place at the end of a deal.

Before we close a deal, we will walk you through our growth plan for the brand. It’s important to us that each brand creator feels confident that their business is in safe and capable hands. We work with each brand individually to optimize the storefront and create a plan for product development, omnichannel expansion, and international growth.
